November 2-6, 2009

"These plans are based on the best prediction of what we hope to accomplish for this week. Please note, that these plans will vary from time to time because of various interruptions (fire drills, assemblies, etc.) and that we want to make sure students master material, before we move on to new concepts."


Reading:
Monday- Students will read “The Little Mangy One” on page 118 and answer the questions on page 119. The word-attack skills minis lesson will also be completed.
Tuesday- Students will continue to write their mystery/suspense story.
Wednesday- Students will read “Informational Skills Review” on page 120. They will answer the questions on page 121.
Thursday- Students will continue to write their mystery/suspense story.
Friday- Students will complete the Vocabulary Skills Review and the Writing Skills Review on pages 122 and 123.

Language:
Monday- Students will complete a worksheet on definite and indefinite articles.
Tuesday- Students will complete a worksheet on nouns used as adjectives.
Wednesday- Students will complete a worksheet on proper adjectives.
Thursday- Students will complete a worksheet on compound adjectives.
Friday- Students will complete a worksheet on pronouns used adjectives.

History
Note: New vocabulary words will be added beginning second quarter.
Monday- We will be discussing Sumerian supernatural explanations for natural phenomena. Students will write their own explanations in a supernatural way for volcanoes, flooding and earthquakes.
Tuesday- We will discuss how a life in a society is formed by their belief systems and rituals. This speaks to the beginnings of theocracies. Students will answer the question in fifty words or more, “Why were priest-kings important to Mesopotamian cultures”? There will also be a test on the power point terms.
Wednesday- Students will fill in a map on the mid east using a desk map and a visual presentation.
Thursday- Students will complete a word search on places in the mid east.
Friday- Students will watch a video on the mid east.

Math Book 2:

Monday: Students will learn the Distributive Property 3.6 Goal #1. Homework: page 144 #7-14

Tuesday: Students will understand the Distributive Property 3.6 Goal #2 Algebra and Variables . Homework: pages 144-145 # 15-22 and 28-31

Wednesday: 2 hour late start/ bowling

Thursday: Students will complete Lab 3.7 Investigating Division of Fractions. Homework: page 149 #6-14

Friday: Students will learn to dividing fractions and mixed numbers 3.7
STUDY FOR CHAPTER 3 TEST ON TUESDAY

Math Book 1:

Monday: Students will learn to rounding decimals 3.6. Homework: pages 140-141 # 11-20 and 33-39

Tuesday: Students will learn the concept of powers and exponents . 3.7 Goal 1- Using exponents to write powers - Homework: page 146 #7-20

Wednesday: 2 hour late start/ bowling

Thursday: Students will learn powers and exponents. goal 2 - Evaluating Expressions - Homework: page 147 # 33-48

Friday: Students will learn to use decimals, fractions, and percents. 3.8 - Homework: pages 150-151 #6-15
