Monday- Read the story “Dragon, Dragon” starting on page 298.
Tuesday- Define the highlighted words. Do the “Apply Your Skills” section on page 307.
Wednesday- Read the story “Olympic Glory” starting on page 310. Pick out ten words in the story which you are not sure of. Define them using context clues. Tell me what the clues are.
Thursday- Do the “Apply Your Skills” section on page 315 and write a topic sentence for each paragraph.
Friday- Test
Language:
Monday- We will create a subordinate clause guide. Students should study this each night.
Tuesday- We will create an adjective clause guide. Students should study this each night.
Wednesday- Students will write sentences with selected adjective clauses (to be pasted to the blog later).
Thursday- Students will create an adverb clause guide. Students should study this each night.
Friday- There will be a test today on previous guides.

Tuesday- Accelerated Math
Wednesday- We will divide fractions with common denominators. Students complete 1-27 on pages 392 and 393.
Thursday- Accelerated Math
Friday- Students will use reciprocals to divide fractions. Students complete problems1-26 on page(s) 398 and 399.
Math2:
Monday- We will study intersecting lines and angle measures. Students must complete problems 1-24 onpages376 and 377.
Tuesday- Accelerated Math
Wednesday- We will study plane geometry. Students will complete problems 1 to 14 on pages 382 and 383.
Thursday- Accelerated Math
Friday- We will study the idea of circumference. Students will complete problems 1-22 on pages 388 and 389.
Adjective Clauses
An adjective clause is a subordinate clause that modifies a noun or pronoun.
Example:
She bought an expensive watch that was made in Japan.
That radio, which was made fifty years ago, still works.
The person whom we mean to invite is Senator Jackson.
The book whose title I can’t remember was written by Alcott.
In the week since he left, several things have changed.
He remembers a time when he swam in that lake.
The lake where we swim is a hundred feet deep in the center.
He is the pitcher whom we saw the last time.
Subordinate Clauses
A clause is a group of words with its own subject and verb.
An independent clause has a subject and a verb and can stand by itself as a complete sentence.
A subordinate clause has a subject and a verb but cannot stand by itself as a sentence. It is only part of a sentence.

Complete: She can walk the dog after she finished her report.

Example: when the trunk was found in the attic
Complete: When the trunk was found in the attic it had cobwebs on it. We were surprised, when the trunk was found in the attic.
Adjective Phrases
An adjective phrase is a prepositional phrase that modifies a noun or pronoun by telling what kind or which one.
Examples:
The highway with two lanes began there.
The sergeant with the angry face stopped us.
Each of the captains waved.
Noise from aircraft may damage houses near busy urban airports.
The box of cookies in the pantry is almost empty.
The gas station near the entrance to the highway sells diesel fuel.
