October 18-22, 2010

Note: Opportunities to improve test scores will be provided periodically. Tests may be retaken as often as wished. If a student is absent and cannot send for a worksheet, the student may finish it upon return. The proviso is that the finished work be given to me and not placed upon a desk.

Reading:
Monday- Finish Comparison Essay
Tuesday- Review, Read page 118 and do p119. Read p120 and do p121. Read 122 and do p123.
Wednesday- Read Pages 128 and 129. Discuss plot, setting, climax and resolution. Pick one of the past stories to provide examples of each.
Thursday- Pick another story from past selections and detail the plot, setting, climax and resolution.
Friday- Test on the above

Language:
Monday-Complete worksheet on action verbs and linking verbs. Discuss
Tuesday- Complete a worksheet on helping verbs. Discuss
Wednesday- Complete a worksheet on adjectives. Discuss
Thursday- We will read a story with the purpose of highlighting adjectives, verbs, linking verbs, etc.
Friday- Test

Math 1:
Monday- Chapter two, lesson five (Order of Operations). Complete 1-32
Tuesday- Chapter two lesson six ( Distributive Property). Complete 1-26
Wednesday- Chapter two, lesson (Different Bases). Do 8-19 and 21-26
Thursday- Test
Friday- Math Video

Math 2:
Monday- Chapter two, lesson five (Greatest Common Factor) Do 5-23
Tuesday- Chapter two, lesson six (Fractions In Simplest Form) Do 7-23
Wednesday- Chapter two, lesson seven (A Division Model), Do odd problems
Thursday- Test
Friday- Math Video

Art:
Monday- Computer generated art in the lab
Tuesday- Painting in the Cubist style. Read 42-45. Do chapter three review
Wednesday- We will critique selected masterpieces.
Thursday- Read 46 to 51. Do "Check Your Understanding"
Friday- Video presentation on selected artist.

History:
Monday- We will talk about the need for construction of the pyramids. Students will draw their own pyramid with details.
Tuesday- We will discuss King Narmer and the unification of Egypt.
Wednesday- Students will read an ancient Egyptian story and summarize it.
Thursday- Test
Friday- Video on Egypt

Hi. I check your blog for the weekly updates for Skyler. I am his babysitter and he does his homework when I watch him. I like that all the work is posted for us to see. I just have one suggestion. At orientation I remember that the home room is room two and not room seven anymore. Just a suggestion to up date the blog. ;) Thanks so much for the information.
