Monday-3.2.2 Understands the characteristics of cultures in the world from the past or in the present
Today you will complete a review of section two. You will answer the first seven questions but a special emphasis will be placed on the descriptive writing portion. You will pretend that you are a Spartan soldier and you are writing a letter to the Athenians explaining your way of life. You will highlight certain parts of your culture and explain the necessity for it. An example would be that Spartan boys go to military camp at the age of seven. Explain why that is necessary.

We need to work on vocabulary today. In sections two and three you will find key words highlighted in yellow. Your job today is to write each of those words down and define them without using the sentences in the text. In other words, you must explain their meanings in your own words. You will be sharing your work in the last half of the period. Remember, often you will have to create the definition out of context.
Thursday- 4.2 Understands how casual factors have influenced history
I will take the opportunity today to tell you about the battle at Marathon, Salamis and the battle at Thermopolae. You will at first copy key words that I will provide which are indispensable to the two battles. As I tell you the story, you will write a sentence explaining the significance of those words. You may add them to the vocabulary thus far in preparation for a test.

Complete the section three review on page 137 and re-read section one on your own.
